Happy New Year!
2009. What can I say? It has been one wild and crazy ride… I have managed to accomplish so much in just 365 days and it’s only the start of more amazing things to come. I have had plenty ups and downs this year but I’ve learned so many valuable lessons about life (and although I’ve always managed to bounce back up after a fall, I can now bounce back up a little faster).
The new year brings new ideas, new projects, and most definitely a new direction. So, I made a bold step and now have an office and studio space in the downtown Salt Lake area. I know, right? ME! That’s right. I now have a place I can call “work” where the XBOX won’t distract me. It was a huge move into making sure my personal life and work life stayed separate (I was THIS close to punching myself in the face). So come visit me! I’m sharing space with some extremely talented photographers (Duston Todd Photography, Matthew Ryan Photography, and Joanna Taylor Photography). AND the best part is that it’s 10 walking minutes away from Les Madeleines (only my favorite bakery in Utah).
And if you’ve paid attention to my blog or my facebook, you’ve noticed that I’ve been frequenting the Louisville, Kentucky area a bit. I am expanding my business and although I have no limitations to where I shoot, I will mainly be in Salt Lake and Louisville. I have been working with a lot of fantastic people in Kentucky, and I’ll be there at least once a month. So, yes- that means I will also be looking into getting some office space in that area (sorry, Kentucky- you’re still stuck with me for the time being).
And I know I keep mentioning a new look for the website. It was supposed to have a makeover but due to absolutely no time, I never got around to it. So here’s hoping that it will have its new look in February. The blog will also be undergoing a few changes, and most importantly- I will not be trying to blog every single session I have. I’ll be posting “featured” sessions and I’ll be pretty particular about what I post. That means I’ll have more time, which also means my blogging will be more consistent (yay for consistency!).
As for the “big news” I said I was announcing- well, it will have to wait a few more weeks. I know. I’m a tease. But I’m not ready to announce it (and NO, for the last time, I am NOT pregnant). But I’m working with Joanna Taylor on it and we hope to announce it soon!
And because I couldn’t really narrow down my favorites of the year, I decided to post up a “Year in Review” on my Facebook Page. If you aren’t a fan,…well- what are you waiting for?? Join it. And join it because all the cool kids are doing it. Trust me.
BUT, I did want to post up my favorite photo of 2009. It was hard to decide, and I honestly had to sit back and ask myself, “If you could only hang up one photo on your wall to display, what would it be?” So I chose the photo below (and I’m sure you’ve already seen it). I am in love with love and a closet romantic, and even though there were others that I absolutely adored, this one was the photo that made me realize that I’m doing exactly what I love to do, and I’m exactly on the path I want to be on.
So thank you, thank you, thank you! 2009 was a monumental year for me and 2010 looks even better. Ultimate goal of 2010? Shoot a wedding in Hawaii (holla back, destination brides!).
Check back next week for my first “featured” post: Jayme & Nathan’s Wedding. Gotta get back to clearing out my email inbox!
